Princess Wencheng Tibetan Culture Park, jointly developed by Usunhome Group and Lhasa Potala Tourism and Culture Group, is on a list of newly approved National-level AAAA Scenic Spots released recently by Department of Tourism Development of Tibet Autonomous Region. The park has thus become the very first National-level AAAA Scenic Spot in Tibet that features a performing art.
Located inside China Tibet Cultural, Creative and Tourism Park, Princess Wencheng Tibetan Culture Park is dubbed “the window with a view of Potala Palace” as from there one can see from afar the palace on the other side of Lhasa River. It is intended to preserve Cijuelin ancient village where Princess Wencheng’s entourage settled down. It is also the first tourism project inside China Tibet Cultural, Creative and Tourism Park that aims primarily to hand down, protect, reinvent and promote Tibet’s intangible culture heritage. Covering an area of around 290 Chinese mu, the project has at its core the large-scale Tibetan culture epic drama Princess Wencheng, complemented by three major sections: Princess Wencheng performing art section, Cijuelin Tibetan-style sight-seeing and leisure street, and Princess Wencheng Cultural Tourism Theme Park quality accommodation and tourism section. The project has exerted a massive cluster effect, turning its surrounding area into one of the fastest growing areas in Lhasa in terms of new economy and new business forms.
Thanks to its successful operation and unique charm, Princess Wencheng Tibetan Culture Park has become Lhasa’s tourism symbol. Awards or honorary titles it has earned include 2015 Tibetan, Qiang and Yi Cultural Industries Corridor Key Project, 2015 China Tourism Jintu Award • Best Tourism Performing Art Award, 2018 Lhasa Ethnic Unity and Progress Education Center, Tibet's 6th "Five Types of Great Cultural Products" Award for Cultural and Ethical Advancement, Tibet Autonomous Region Cultural Industries Demonstration Center and Entity Excelling at Organizational Innovation in Tibet’s fight against poverty. As the operator of Princess Wencheng, Usunhome Cultural Tourism was nominated jointly in both 2018 and 2019 by Economic Daily and Guangming Daily under the supervision of the Central Publicity Department for the honor “China's Top 30 Cultural Enterprises”, being the only nominee from Tibet.
